Types of Playgroups
Are all playgroups the same?
No but all playgroups are similar where babies and young children accompanied by caring adults meet regularly to play and learn together. Playgroups by their nature are very diverse. All families in your group will be different, and bring with them a range of experiences, skills, interests and expectations.
Types of playgroups include:
Baby groups and first-time parents (see link below)
- Toddler playgroups
- Three to four-year old playgroups (see link below)
- Fathers’ groups
- Groups where language other than English is spoken
- Groups of families from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
- Montessori/Waldorf/Steiner groups
- Groups with children with a disability
- Grandparents groups
- Intergenerational groups (see link below)
- Groups for Indigenous families
- Groups for families with a particular need or special interest
- Home playgroups (see link below)
