The West Pilbara Early Literacy Project (WPELP) aims to build on and enhance existing community strengths and resources in order to improve early language development and literacy of children from birth to five years of age within the region.
The Project Officer visits family centres, playgroups, child care centres, libraries and other places where parents of young children gather providing free books, advice and tips about early literacy to parents.
The project also offers customised training to those working with families in communities.
The project extends to towns including Karratha, Tom Price, Paraburdoo, Onslow, Roebourne and Pannawonica while providing outreach to more isolated communities in the region.
If you would like more information please contact the Project Officer, Anne Pomery on 0427 450 608 or email Anne today.
