In a Child's Mind - Making the Connections

In a Child’s Mind - Making the Connections is an exciting new project being established in Bunbury to support local playgroups.

The project aims to focus parents and the playgroup community on the importance and value of their interactions with children.

In a Child’s Mind will work alongside playgroups to:

• provide a comfortable, welcoming place for parents and young children to be together
• encourage young children to be active, curious, social and emotional  
• support parents and encourage families to support each other
• be a place where the world opens up to children
• provide training to a volunteer, parent or caregiver to act as a ‘Play Listener’ whose role is to welcome families, listen to children and interact creatively with them and their parents
• support adults by offering creative solutions to the social and emotional challenges young children inevitably experience in group situations

Through this project we hope to enhance the playgroup environment for parents to nurture, listen to, and extend the capabilities of young children aged birth to four years.
