
What is a Playgroup?
Playgroups are set up and run by parents and carers. In a playgroup, parents and carers stay and play with their children and also help them to play with other children. At playgroups, children choose from a range of activities set up by the parents. Playgroups are for children from birth to 5 years (school age). They usually meet on a weekly basis for a period of 1-2 hours. Playgroups take place in a variety of settings including kindergartens, schools, church halls, community centres, parks and even people's homes.
