What is Sing & Grow?
Sing & Grow is an early intervention and prevention music therapy project for families that experience a range of pressures that impact upon the resources and confidence of parents. These might be caused by having a child with a disability, being from a different cultural group, being a young parent, suffering from mental health problems or generally feeling financially disadvantaged.

Programs are held in the community for families with children aged up to 3 years. Weekly music sessions (usually 10 weeks) allow families to participate in hands-on activities that assist children with developmental skills and encourage parents to learn new and different ways to use music as a way of interacting and playing with their children. Music is also used as a way to stimulate, develop and nurture family relationships.
Sing & Grow has an early intervention focus
Sing & Grow aims to provide services in areas where access may be difficult
Sing & Grow sessions are conducted by a Registered Music Therapist
What happens at Sing & Grow?
Families attending will:
learn new songs & musical games
play lots of colourful instruments with their children
help their children explore music and musical instruments
learn about child development
make new friends within the group
receive a free resource CD & booklet to take home
be invited to give feedback on what they like and do not like about the program
be asked to complete some surveys to help us assess the quality and effectiveness of the program (This is required by the funding body to ensure we are doing our jobs and the money is being spent on a program that helps parents and children)
How do families access Sing & Grow?
Sing & Grow sessions are run all over Australia in collaboration with Playgroup Associations and community organisations. Families can be referred to Sing & Grow through an organisation that is supporting them in their community.
Community organizations should ring the relevant Sing & Grow Director (see below) to discuss the possibility of providing a program for their families.
