Mission Statement

To promote and develop fun and learning experiences for babies and children through Playgroup, whilst providing an information and support network to all families across the Northern Territory.

The Playgroup Association of the Northern Territory:

• Has been established in the NT since 1980;
• Is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors;
• Is an active member of the Playgroup Council of Australia;
• Is partly funded by the Commonwealth Department of Family and Community Services;
• Operates from offices at Playgroup House Darwin and Playgroup House Alice Springs;
• Maintains a register of Playgroups in the Northern Territory;
• Assists families to locate an appropriate Playgroup which suits their families' needs;
• Employs 12 full and part-time staff in various locations throughout the NT;
• Operates the Playgroup Shop retail craft outlets at Playgroup House Darwin and Playgroup House Alice Springs;
• Conducts Playgym classes with Kindergym accredited leaders at Playgroup House Darwin;
• Is licenced by the Australian Sports Commission to conducted Playshop programs and courses in the NT;
• Is an Active Australia provider;
• Conducts family support programs for the wider community;
• Promotes tours for the wider NT community by quality children's entertainers, such as Hi-5, The Wiggles and Hooley Dooleys;
• Conducts family fun days throughout the NT for the wider community.
