The early intervention programs are designed to build the resilience of families and children. Playgroup NSW runs a number of early intervention playgroups with the aim of targeting families who would not otherwise be able to access a mainstream community playgroup.
The importance of early childhood prevention and early intervention programs is based on the premise that the first few years of a child's development are crucial in setting the foundation for lifelong learning, behavior and health outcomes (McCain and Mustard 1999; Gauntlett, Hugman, Kenyon and Logan 2000). We all know the importance of playgroup in a child’s development and a parent’s social and support network. The early intervention programs target families who will benefit from playgroups most, such as: - First time mothers/parents
- Isolated communities
- CALD communities
- Indigenous communities
- Young parents
- Single parents
- Rural areas
- Parents with children who have a disability (My Time)
- Parents with children who have a Autism Spectrum disorders (PlayConnect)
