It's on again!!
Playgroups right across Australia will be celebrating National Playgroup Week from 27 April to 3 May 2008, and taking part in the World’s Biggest Playgroup on Wednesday 30th April.

The theme and key message will be “Learning through Play”
Playgroups are encouraged to celebrate with a special event, especially on World's Biggest Playgroup Day, even if it is a regular playgroup session, or perhaps a congregation of several local playgroups!
On World's Biggest Playgroup Day we're not trying to set a "Guinness world record" of having the largest playgroup gathering ever, instead we aim to have thousands of playgroup parents and kids at hundreds of events, on the one day, all around the country!
Many of the Playgroup Associations are planning some unique family events. Or you may prefer to organise your own special event! Get in touch with the Association in your state or territory to find out more, as they have heaps of ideas for fun activities your playgroup can take part in to celebrate.
Highlights in 2008
A highlight of this year’s National Playgroup Week will be a giveaway of 45,000 free activity scrapbooks at official National Playgroup Week events. The Vegemite Little Aussie Reader is a resource developed to boost early literacy, in partnership with Kraft and the Australian Government. The free giveaway will be promoted nationally in the “Child” Magazines (Copeland Publishing) and copies will be available at Tyres & More outlets.
Playgroups who are members of their State or Territory Playgroup Association can order some Vegemite Little Aussie Readers to giveaway if they are celebrating National Playgroup Week in some way. Contact your Playgroup Association, but be aware, supplies are limited.

Key events 2008
Sunday 27 April is the official start of the Week.
Wednesday 30 April is World’s Biggest Playgroup Day, the central focus of the Week. Key events planned by State and Territory Playgroup Associations include concerts and games in the parks of Sydney, Darwin, Perth and Canberra; a Bananas in Pyjamas tour of Tasmania, a Teddy Bears Picnic at Melbourne Museum; live Rhyme Time shows at Adelaide’s Colonnades Shopping Centre; and a playgroup at State Parliament in Brisbane! Sixteen Centro shopping centres are also taking part in World’s Biggest Playgroup Day.
Saturday 3 May is the official end of the Week.
